ACES 102 - The LGBTQ ExperienceRoom/Location: HSS0122 (HSS)
Description: This course provides students with an introduction to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Studies. Students will become familiar with critical approaches to the study of sexuality and gender from an interdisciplinary perspective. Focus will be on investigating the production and regulation of sexualities in relation to gender identities, popular culture, racial and national formations, and media aesthetics. The class will also engage varying competing arguments about contemporary controversies. Readings and primary texts will include historical materials, sociological studies, queer and transgender theory, activist publications, memoirs, literary fiction, nightclub culture, drag performances, and film. (Same as HUMAN 102)
Prerequisite: Completion of ENGL& 101 with a grade of 2.0 or above is strongly recommended.
